Deep Conditioning Natural Hair

Deep Conditioning / Conditioning natural hair is the all-round most important step in natural haircare. It is best done on clean hair to realise the full benefits of the product. Conditioning natural is vital as it can determine the condition of the hair between hair wash days.

Sometimes even if a ‘not so good’ shampoo is used, the right deep conditioner or conditioner can reverse the effects of a bad shampoo.

Effects a good deep conditioner / conditioner, this is what you should look for:

  • Softer hair
  • Ease of detangling
  • Improved elasticity
  • Lasting moisturised hair
  • Shine and bounce
  • Temporal repair if hair is damaged

HOW TO DEEP CONDITION NATURAL HAIR

For mid-longer lengths – art hair into workable sections. Apply conditioner from mid length to tips of the hair. These are areas which need more care as the get older, they experience more strain e.g. from styling, brushing & are more susceptible to split ends & breakage.

Use a deep conditioning heat cap or any other source of heat to help the deep conditioner to penetrate the hair strands better.

Deep condition for 5 to 10 minutes or as directed on label instructions.

We do not recommend applying deep conditioners onto the scalp as this can cause build up & clogging. Hair conditioners are for the hair.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD DEEP CONDITIONING BE DONE?

This will normally depend on individuals & their hair type, but a rough guide will be at least 1 - 2 times every 2 weeks. It is important to find a good balance as to not over condition or under condition the hair.
